I remember a great football game, one Friday night in October of 1960. "All State andAll American running back Charlie King would score anunbelievable six (6) Touchdowns against All-American Conference foe Steubenville Big Red at Hartshorn stadium. This feat had not been done since the greart Hillis Hume in 1939.

One of his six scores would come on a beautifully thrown 60 yard, hitch and go pass play that was caught over his head at full stride from "All State" quarterback Bob Wallace.

His final score would come when coach Knowlton called a 64 slashrunning play against a gap 8 defensive front. Offensive end Jim Davidson advised Charlie that he would have to Jump to break the line of scrimmage. With the terrific blocking coming from Dave Trieff, Rick Knauf, Jim Fraraccio and Jim Davidson, Charlie hurdled over the top and at full stride foot raced "All State" defensive back leon Lindsey to the end zone for the score.

Charlie would score a record 26 TD's that year and score 158 points which was tops in the State of Ohio and Stark County.
